Calendar of Upcoming Programs and Events
The San Diego Historical Society hosts dozens of public programs and special events at its four historic sites, and throughout the community each year. Programs range from walking tours, historic homes tours, lectures, workshops, exhibition openings and receptions. With numerous activities to choose from, there's something for everyone! Earth Day San Diego |
Join the Friends of the Marston House as they educate the community about “Geranium George” at this annual environmental event. Geranium George plants will be on sale for Earth Day participants.

Tea on the Terrace |
Enjoy an elegant mid-morning or afternoon tea on the terrace of the majestic Marston House Museum, overlooking the rolling south lawn. Your tea menu includes an assortment of finger sandwiches, scones, jam, authentic clotted creme and sausage rolls with Branston Pickle relish provided by Shakespeare’s Corner Shoppe. Tea is followed by a piece of coconut créme pie, the favored dessert of patrons of the popular Marston’s Department Store in the 1950s. Seating is limited to allow for a more intimate and relaxing experience. A complimentary house tour will be offeredat the completion of each tea setting.

Cinco de Mayo Celebration |
Celebrate San Diego’s early Spanish and Mexican heritage at this unique community event.

Women of the House Tour |
Take a closer look at the intimate side of the Marston family, as letters, journals and personal memoirs reveal the stories behind the profoundly influential Marston women. Learn how these women were the true heart and soul of the Marston family.

Mother's Day Weekend Tea and Fashion Extravaganza |
Treat Mom or that special lady in your life to a special day she won’t soon forget with an elegant mid-morning or afternoon tea on the terrace of the majestic Marston House Museum, featuring a spring fashion show from area designers! Your tea menu includes an assortment of finger sandwiches, scones and authentic clotted crème provided by Shakespeare’s Corner Shoppe. Follow your tea with a piece of coconut crème pie, the favored dessert of patrons of the popular Marston’s Department Store in the 1950s. Your tea experience will be complimented by a fashion show featuring the works of local, talented fashion designers. In addition, a complimentary house tour will be offered at the completion of each tea setting. Please call ahead for information about the designers fashions to be featured each day.
