(Documentary Artifact): One hand-colored lantern slide of Maria Lugo gathering seeds with a seed beater and basket. Davis purchased a burden net, seed beater, and two ollas from her (Notebook 17).
According to notes in the National Museum of the American Indian’s files (for same image), Lugo is demonstrating the method of using a seed beater on ripe sage seeds in this photograph.
