OP 15362-363

(Documentary Artifact): One b/w photographic print of Angel Quilp (or Juan Angel Quilp/Cuilp/Culp) at the Matawhy (Mataguay) cemetery with one hand placed up on a large wooden cross. According to notes from photograph OP 15362-362, he lived in a canyon off of Warner’s Ranch until the 1903 evacuation of Cupeño [Cupeno] Indians from Warner Springs. See series of photographs, OP 15362-361 through 363. Notes from these prints indicate that following the eviction, he moved to Mesa Grande where he lived until he passed away in 1929 at 101 years old.
