BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES:
Paul T. Mizony (1881-1975) served at Fort Rosecrans in the National Guard of California, Coast Artillery Corps, 8th Company, from 1905 to1911.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTES:
Documents military service at Fort Rosecrans on Point Loma between 1905 and 1911. Includes coastal batteries, ordnance warehouse, barracks, guardhouse, and other buildings; soldiers firing 10-inch guns, standing guard duty, and playing pool; war and supply ships in San Diego Harbor, steamers and launches at the landing pier; the old Spanish Lighthouse [i.e. Point Loma Lighthouse] and Ballast Point Lighthouse. Of special note, Mizony’s photographs of pioneer aviator Lincoln Beachey at the controls of a Curtiss airplane, and his half-brother Harold I. Mizony, later killed in action on Saipan Island in 1944.
