BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES:
Under the direction of the San Diego Tuberculosis Association, the Rest Haven Preventorium for Children operated an open air camp from 1920 to 1951 for children threatened by tuberculosis and other diseases.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTES:
Documents the Rest Haven Preventorim for Children. Subjects include exterior and interior views of the health care facility, including the dining hall, school, examination room, and sleeping porch; group portraits of children with Rest Haven staff, nurses administering TB tests to children, children with a dog, children at play, and children gathered around a shoe house modeled from the Mother Goose rhyme. Also, Christmas Seal campaign, volunteers and board members, and Florence H. “Ma” Mead, president of Rest Haven from 1927 to 1949.
