Balboa Park Club / New Mexico Building
What is today the Balboa Park Building was built for the 1915 Panama-California Exposition by the State of New Mexico. By designing New Mexico’s exhibit palace to be placed in the homeland of California missions, architect Isaac Hamilton Rapp established the Pueblo-Revival style as the architectural idiom of New Mexico. Rapp later duplicated the design of the San Diego building for the Santa Fe Museum of Fine Arts, Rapp’s third and final adaptation of the Pueblo-Mission churches of Acoma and Cochiti.
