SUMMARY:Building Bridges: Lessons from Women Leaders
DESCRIPTION:\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Building Bridges: Lessons from Women Leaders\nSEPTEMBER 28\, 4:00 PM \n \n \n \n \n \n San Diego has a long history of women serving in public office. In 1918 – two years before the passage of the 19th Amendment granting women the right to vote – Mildred Greene became the first woman to serve as a San Diego County Supervisor. Initially appointed to the role by the California Governor Stephens\, Greene went on to win two elections to the post. \nIn the more than 100 years since Mildred Greene’s historic appointment\, San Diego women have continued to break political barriers at the local\, state\, and national level. Equally importantly\, San Diego women leaders have built bridges within the community and encouraged all women to be active participants in the civic arena. \nPlease join us for a conversation exploring these themes with Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber\, Ph.D and Senate President pro Tempore Emeritus Toni G. Atkins at the San Diego History Center in Balboa Park on Saturday\, September 28th at 4:00 PM. The discussion will be moderated by Women’s Museum of California Board President and Emmy Award-winning Journalist Sandra Maas. San Diego City Mayor Todd Gloria will offer introductory remarks. \nWe look forward to hearing from these dedicated San Diego public servants about their paths to leadership\, the life lessons they learned along the way\, and the impact of women’s leadership in public life. Seating is limited. Please RSVP by September 24th. \nLight refreshments will be provided. \nTickets: $15 \n \n \n RSVP HERE\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n
