ABOUT THE EVENT
San Diego History Center Marketing Manager Shelby Gordon will share elements for the SDHC Archives that acknowledge the milestones and citizens that have influenced the life of Black San Diegans. Photos from the Baynard Photography Collection, unique donated items, visual art, and the current community sourced collection initiatives will be shared. Speaker and bio:
Shelby, a native San Diegan, has worked in communication roles at Sea World, the San Diego Museum of Art, the San Diego Housing Commission, United Way/CHAD, the Del Mar Fairgrounds, the Salvation Army Kroc Center, and the Walt Disney Company. In addition to her work at the San Diego History Center, she is an adjunct professor at two local universities and an anti-racism consultant. Shelby was a 2021 TedXBonitaVistaHS presenter as well as a speaker at San Diego Design Week’s Museums and the Public Experience event in 2022. She is a graduate of California State University, Fullerton and the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
