DESCRIPTION:\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					\n				\n				\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n			 \n				\n				\n				\n				\n					\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					FREE TUESDAY TALK: A Sneak Peek into San Diego’s Latino Legacy\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n					Set to debut September 2020\, San Diego’s Latino Legacy will pay tribute to the region’s modern Latino civil rights movement\, its milestones and most notable pioneers and visionaries who have contributed to the betterment of our region and humanity. \nSan Diego’s Latino Legacy is a first-time educational partnership that brings together the San Diego History Center with San Diego State University’s Chicana & Chicano Studies Department\, which will also mark its 50th anniversary in 2020.Please join us for a special presentation about San Diego’s Latino Legacy 2020 Exhibit by Maria Velasquez\, an Emmy Award-winning former TV producer and journalist in San Diego and Phoenix\, who has earned numerous awards for her roles in community outreach\, public affairs and TV news. \nThe origins of San Diego’s Latino Legacy exhibit date back to 1994 when Ms. Velasquez created the 100 Portraits: Pioneers\, Visionaries & Role Models\, a highly-praised collaborative photo exhibit and book project that highlighted San Diego’s Mexican-American community. The “100 Portraits” project celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. \nABOUT THE FREE TUESDAY TALK SERIES\nCome to the History Center on the second Tuesday of each month for a presentation about our shared history—both popular and obscure—and uncover something new!
