Alice Barnett Stevenson was foremost a song composer\, and her genre of expertise was art songs for voice and piano. She composed\, taught\, collaborated\, volunteered\, performed\, and produced within San Diego music circles; her songs were performed and celebrated at local schools and at her home\, as well as across the country at prestigious music schools and concerts in New York. Despite the quality of her music\, the repertoire has been mostly lost to time\, although the echoes of her influence resonate today; after all\, the San Diego Symphony was founded in her home. In this lecture recital in honor of Women’s History Month\, you will have the opportunity to hear Alice Barnett Stevenson’s music for the first time this century\, and to learn her exceptional life story! \nLive performance with musicologist Katina Mitchell (soprano) and Yewon Lee (piano) in a “lecture recital” format. \n \n \n RESERVATION\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n
