As teachers\, missionaries\, domestic employers and customers\, women were often these migrants’ earliest contacts\, wielding considerable power to change this picture. \nThis talk will uncover specific stories from San Diego where women played outsized roles in the lives of migrant men and pay tribute to individuals from both groups who would otherwise remain little known or nameless.  \nAbout the Presenter:\nDede Huang is a family historian based in the US and Hong Kong. She is the descendant of Chinese migrants who lived and worked in San Diego from the early 1880s. \nThis program is presented by the San Diego History Center\, Women’s Museum of California and San Diego Chinese Historical Museum. \n \n \n RSVP HERE\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n
