Come to learn about how the once dusty\, sleepy\, under-populated community of “New Town” San Diego exploded into a center of commerce\, immigration\, and crime and how leaders at the time sought to clean the place up in a hurry before visitors from all over the world arrived for the Panama-California Exposition of 1915. \nBased on our prior exhibition Sin Diego: The Stingaree’s Transformation from Vice to Nice\, hear curator and marketing director Matthew Schiff delve into the depravity and wickedness that was the Stingaree and ask\, how much has changed since then? \n  \n\nAbout the Free Tuesday Talk Series Come to the History Center on the second Tuesday of each month for a presentation about our shared history—both popular and obscure—and uncover something new!
