Great North American Indians: Profiles in Life and Leadership. By Frederick J. Dockstader. New York, Van Nostrand Reinhold Company, 1977. 386 pages.
These brief biographical sketches, normally less than a page, deal with deceased Indian men and women, including many lesser known persons who were significant outside of the political and military arena. Because of the absence of footnotes, the book has limited value to scholars, but it will serve as a useful reference book for a general audience.
