The Historical Commission Press in Riverside has published two books on southern California history. In the first, From Sonora to San Francisco Bay, John Brumgardt provides a brief survey of the Anza expedition. The second book, Historical Portraits of Riverside County, edited by Brumgardt, consists of five articles which are based on lectures on local history presented at the Riverside Public Library in the spring, 1976. The articles, by different authors, are concerned with early settlement in the area, the Bradshaw Trail, the creation of Riverside County, and major events in the development of the Coachella Valley.
