Since no full-length, English-language study of the age of Mexican dictator Porfirio Díaz exists, the editor collected this anthology of articles by established scholars to help fill the void. The articles cover the thirty-five year period from 1876, when Díaz seized control of Mexico City, to 1911, when he was forced into permanent exile. A bibliographical essay, emphasizing political and military trends, concludes this volume.
