Aviation An Historical Survey from its Origins to the End of World War II is the second edition of a 1960 book originally published as The Aeroplane; it is a project of the British Science Museum. The book is a general history of aviation enhanced by excellent charts and tables and a good bibliography. Of major interest to San Diegans will be the brief references to John J. Montgomery and his gliders. The author concludes that Montgomery “made no real contribution to aviation.”
