Undocumented Aliens and Crime: The Case of San Diego County.
By Daniel Wolf. San Diego: Center for U.S.-Mexican Studies, University of California, San Diego, 1988. 54 pages.
Rapidly becoming a historical document this study examines in depth the Kelly School incident in Carlsbad, when local fears about undocumented immigrants and possible crime led to a mass roundup of more than three thousand aliens who were displayed as trophies by the Immigration and Naturalization Service. Wolf’s sophisticated study also analyzes 1987 crime data to demonstrate that most of the crimes committed by undocumented immigrants were, in 1987, against other illegal aliens.
