Pohl, Ernest Henry (1874-1956)
Pastelist, landscape painter
Born in Michigan on August 7, 1874. By 1915 Pohl had settled in San Diego at 4468 Hortensia Street. A civic and cultural leader, he and his wife, Catherine, were founders of the La Jolla Art Center. A businessman, he painted in his leisure until his death in San Diego on January 9, 1956. His works include desert landscapes of Coachella Valley and Borrego Valley.
