Celebrate San Diego: The History and Heritage of San Diego’s Jewish Community closes on June 3, 2018 but that doesn’t mean that you can’t keep the story close at hand once it does.
To the Ends of the Earth: A Portrait of Jewish San Diego, a co-production of Cinewest Productions and the San Diego History Center, is based on over 50 interviews conducted by local filmmaker, Isaac Artenstein, including descendants of early Jewish pioneers, scientists, entrepreneurs, academics as well as avant-garde artists, rabbis, and surfers. It creates a living portrait of a vibrant and culturally-dynamic community that has thrived in our region for over 150 years. This film is the companion to the exhibition Celebrate San Diego: The History & Heritage of San Diego’s Jewish Community. The film brings the rare voices of pioneering San Diego Jews, as well as those of today, into one immersive experience based on a theme of determination, innovation, and ingenuity.
Celebrate, Commemmorate: The History & Heritage of San Diego’s Jewish Community is the definitive history of San Diego’s Jewish community compiled into an attractive and engaging commemorative book featuring key exhibition components of the community’s history as told through timelines, photographs, and new essays chronicling the journey that helped shape the 8th-largest city in our nation. This curator-authored, exhibition book contains a timeline of San Diego Jewish history and other information not included in the exhibition.
