Biographical / Historical Notes
In 1878, the first real estate board of San Diego, known as the Real Estate Association of San Diego, was created. In 1905, a new board was formed and changed their name to the San Diego Realty Board. The Board strived to protect its members and general public from irresponsible dealings, including promoting the creation of legislation for property rights protection. The San Diego Realty Board became incorporated in 1911 and soon affiliated itself with the National Association of Real Estate Boards in 1921, following a period of inactivity during World War I. The San Diego Realty Board later changed its name to the San Diego Association of Realtors (SDAR) in 1990.
