Biographical / Historical Notes

David Burkenroad was a historical researcher in San Diego County. He investigated the history of several areas of the North and east County including Poway, Rainbow and Temecula. In 1979, he was involved in a series of studies for the Department of Transportation of a rock wall formation near Interstate 15 in Rainbow, California. He also conducted an oral history interview with Ed Fletcher, Jr. At the time this collection was donated Burkenroad was residing in Los Angeles.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of research notes, maps, and excerpts from several books related to Burkenroad’s research projects in Poway, Temecula, Jacumba, Rainbow and other rural San Diego county locations. Also included is research and annotated notes for Burkenroad’s oral history interview with Ed Fletcher, Jr.
