(Documentary Artifact): One b/w negative of a view of (probably) the Warner’s Hot Springs graveyard two years after the government eviction of the Cupeno people to Pala.

Notes on negative envelope:
86:15900-150/ DAVIS COLL./ DUP/ MESA GRANDE & HOT SPRINGS/ GRAVEYARD 2 YRS AFTER EVICTION./ 1905

According to additional information provided on 10/2011 by a member of the E.H. Davis Project Scholar Advisory Committee: The eviction was in 1903 at Kupa or Warner’s Hot Springs.
The Cupeno people were removed to Pala Reservation.

(Documentary Artifact): One b/w negative of Quero Santo (see also OP 12550-57) wearing a hawk feather breast plate and a feather headdress. He shakes a deer toe rattle with his right hand. According to notes on the original negative envelope, he may be dressed as a medicine man and singing with rattles.
