(Documentary Artifact): One b/w photographic print of a view of about 50 graves of Tohono O’odham (Papago) Indians in Vamori, Arizona. Notes on the verso of the print state: ‘Each body is laid on top of ground, walled up on all sides + roofed over with loose rocks. Many skeletons were visible through cracks in the rocks. Some of their possessions were with them. This method of burial has been followed for hundreds of years.’
