GENERAL NOTES:
Arrangement by local control number. Forms part of San Diego History Center Original Print Collection. Frequently, names were written on the verso of the photographs, but the donor identified the subject of the photograph as someone else. Related materials include Harvey George North baby clothes in Curatorial Department (Accession No. 84.43). Many of the J.C. Parker, J.E. Slocum, and J.A. BIOGRAPHICAL OR HISTORICAL NOTE:
Harvey George North was born in San Diego in 1889 to James Dayton North and Lillie Juch North. In 1913, he married Agnes Jane Reidy (b. 1887). They had a son, James Dayton North, born in 1918. Harvey George North is listed in the 1932 San Diego City directory as a buyer for Klauber-Wangenheim Co., a mercantile firm.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE:
Collection documents the Harvey George North family and consists of carte de visites, cabinet cards, view cards, albumen prints, photographic prints and postcards. It includes the work of early San Diego photographers Lou Goodale Bigelow, George J. Vreeland, Fred Hartsook, J.C. Parker, J.E. Slocum, J.A. Sherriff and others. Subjects include portraits of Harvey George North, his parents James Dayton North and Lillie Juch North, wife Agnes Jane Reidy, son James Dayton North, as well as many other family members from the North, Reidy, and Juch families. Many view cards taken by photographers J.C. Parker and J.E. Slocum from ca. 1885-1910 depict downtown San Diego, San Diego Harbor scenes, railroad lines, businesses, hotels, parades and ships.
