DIY History Series: Researching a House’s Hidden History
Saturday, May 12 & Saturday, June 23, 2018, from 9:00 am — 12:30 pm
Location: Research Archives at the San Diego History Center
Tickets: $50 SDHC members; $60 general admission for two classes
Have you been wondering if your house is potentially “historic?” This two-part, hands-on program will help you uncover a house’s hidden history, utilizing the History Center and other sources as you follow along with your personal computer.
We will help you answer questions like: How do I find out who built my house? When was the house built? Who lived in it? How do I track the changes to my house over time? Is my house Mills Act eligible?
This program will take place on May 12th and June 23rd. Your ticket includes both classes, as the second session will build upon the information and research performed in the first class. Please bring the address of a house you want to research and plenty of questions! If you have a personal laptop or tablet it is recommended, though not required, that you bring it.
Additional DIY History Series events will be held later in the year. Please check back throughout the year or sign up for our monthly e-newsletter to stay up to date!
