Join us for another Lunch & Learn with Elsa Sevilla featuring Dr. Seth Mallios of San Diego State University. Catch a KPBS film clip about African American history in San Diego County since the 1850s, and a behind-the-scenes look at SDHC’s upcoming exhibition, Nathan Harrison: Born a Slave, Died a San Diego Legend.
Join Dr. Mallios as he describes his 15-year archaeological excavation project on Nathan Harrison’s property and what has been discovered about the life of the first African American homesteader in San Diego. Hear about Harrison’s incredible story of survival and perseverance in the face of the Civil War, Gold Rush, Gilded Age and so much more.
Be sure to RSVP and join the conversation about San Diego’s past. Seating is limited and past Lunch & Learn events have sold out, so reserve your seat today!
