Lei-Making Workshop With UMEKE

Join us on Saturday, April 12, for a free lei-making event hosted by Umeke celebrating the Aloha Vaqueros exhibition and the blend of San Diego, Mexican, and Hawaiian cowboy cultures.

Under the guidance of skilled cultural practitioners, you’ll create your own kupe‘e (wristlet) using fresh lā‘ī (ti leaf). Discover the techniques, and significant behind this cherished practice, connecting to the rich traditions of Hawai‘i.

This unique workshop is perfect for all ages and experience levels, offering an opportunity to take home not just your handmade kupe‘e but also a deeper appreciation for the artistry and aloha embedded in every lei. Supplies will be provided.
