My Life in History: Iris Engstrand Retirement Event
After nearly five decades as a distinguished professor of history at the University of San Diego, Dr. Iris Engstrand is retiring. Join us as the San Diego History Center pays tribute to her educational service through an intimate evening of conversation and recollection.
Since arriving in San Diego in 1969, Dr. Engstrand has authored more than twenty books and received the prestigious Order of Isabel la Católica medal, presented by King Juan Carlos of Spain for outstanding contributions to Spain’s history.
On May 11, Dr. Engstrand Iris will reflect on her noteworthy career as the preeminent chronicler of San Diego’s history with author and former reporter, Robert Kittle, and likely share some other lesser-known-stories of her past as well.
All proceeds for this event benefit the San Diego History Center.
