Local sports historian, Bill Swank, will share insights and stories about key local Negro League players including San Diego native, Johnny Ritchey, who is recognized as one of the first Black athletes to play in organized baseball and the first Black player in the Pacific Coast League.
About the Speaker
Bill Swank is the author of six books on baseball history and articles that have appeared in The National Pastime, The Baseball Research Journal, Our Heritage (SOHO), The San Diego Union-Tribune and The Journal of San Diego History.
