Internship Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in internship opportunities at the San Diego History Center. The San Diego History Center’s Internship Program provides an opportunity to participate in the day-to-day operations of one of San Diego’s leading museums.

The San Diego History Center offers fall, winter/spring, and summer internships (when available) for high school, undergraduate, and graduate students. Internships are an unpaid learning experience offered for academic credit. Internships are commonly available in a wide range of museum departments including Education, Collections, Exhibitions, Marketing, and Development.

Though interns are assigned to one area, SDHC offers a unique learning experience whereby students will not only be mentored by their hosting supervisor, but they will also attend a break-out session hosted by various departments, will have access to attend the Museum’s public programming, and be able to request one-on-one interviews with staff members in order to learn more about their professions.

Acceptance into the internship program is based upon academic achievements, interests, experience, related skills, and availability. Time commitments are flexible depending on availability and the department’s needs. All internship applicants are required to be currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program at an accredited institution. Supporting documentation may be required to participate. Please note that the minimum age to intern is 15 years old. The San Diego History Center encourages diversity and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds.
