Remembering Jim Mills
April 27, 2021

The San Diego History Center notes with sadness the passing of former State Senator Jim Mills, a native San Diegan, who prior to his election to state office was the San Diego History Center’s curator of the Junipero Serra Museum from 1955-1960. Jim was a staunch advocate for historic preservation and public transportation.
One of his greatest legacies is the Mills Act, which is the single most important economic program in California for the restoration and preservation of qualified historic buildings by private property owners.
