Temporary Museum Closures December Update
December 9, 2020
Dear Friend of the San Diego History Center:
For over 90 years, the San Diego History Center has been entrusted to preserve, reveal, promote and celebrate the history of our region – what makes San Diego unique! We diligently work and partner with key audiences to share the remarkable stories of our region with thousands of students, families, and visitors of all ages, from all corners of the globe. We’re also committed to being nimble and responsible, as an organization, as we serve our varied communities – especially through rapid changes in our environment. Today these commitments have been elevated to a new level.
In accordance with guidance of our state and local public health officials regarding the COVID-19 crisis, the San Diego History Center in Balboa Park and the Junípero Serra Museum will be temporarily closed to the public effective Tuesday, November 10. Public health and governmental officials believe this preventative action is necessary to help slow the spread of the Coronavirus and to ensure the safety of our visitors, volunteers and staff.
As we take these steps, we are also keeping those directly impacted by the virus, and those on the front lines of protecting our public health, in our thoughts. And all of us at the San Diego History Center look forward to opening our doors again soon to continue our work to share with residents and guests the remarkable history of our region. This is not the first time our community has been called to rally together to overcome adversity.
