Lope de Vega’s play on San Diego’s life was written to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of his canonization in 1613.
The title page of Gabriel de Mata’s epic poem on the life of San Diego was published in Alcalá de Henares in 1589.
When Antonio Rojo’s Historia de San Diego de Alcalá was published in 1663 it was the first new work on Diego to appear since Cetina’s Discursos in 1909.
