San Diego, Calif.—San Diego History Center (SDHC) is the recipient of eight sculptures created by celebrated artist, Donal Hord (1902-1966). The artwork is a donation from the estate of local art collectors, Richard Dyson—who passed away in January 2013—and his partner, Robert Roberson of La Mesa (1999). The two were early advocates of Donal Hord’s work and the collection represents some of the sculptor’s most acclaimed privately-held works.

SDHC RECEIVES GOOD WILL THROUGH SCHOOL’S CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION
Francis Parker School chooses Junípero Serra Museum as focus of community service
San Diego, Calif.—San Diego History Center (SDHC) received some good will from Francis Parker School in the form of a day of community service performed by the Parker community of alumni, parents, grandparents and more and will take place on February 2nd at the Junípero Serra Museum in Presidio Park.

No one can accuse the San Diego History Center of going halfway when it comes to the Balboa Park 2015 Centennial Celebration. “Our plan is that in 2015, we’re going to turn the entire History Center into a yearlong centennial celebration,” said Charlotte Cagan, the History Center’s executive director. “That may be more robust than some of the other institutions, but we’re going to go for it.”
