Times of San Diego Previewed ‘Art & Theosophy at Lomaland’
October 13, 2019

Chris Jennewein, editor of the Times of San Diego, wrote an article previewing our exhibition ‘Art & Theosophy at Lomaland.’ The article shares the incredible artistic legacy of the Point Loma Theosophical community, nicknamed the “White City.”
Jennewein shares that the community dissolved during the economic hardship of the Great Depression, but some of the remaining buildings can still be seen on the Point Loma Nazarene University campus. The enduring art and cultural legacy of Katherine Tingley’s Universal Brotherhood and Theosophical Society can be seen at “The Path of the Mystic: Art and Theosophy at Lomaland,” at the San Diego History Center, which runs through April 19.
He described the exhibition as featuring, “a selection of artwork, objects, photographs and archival documents that bring to life an unlikely Utopian experiment that profoundly shaped San Diego’s cultural landscape.”
