Fashion Redux 2023
GLAM 80’s
The San Diego History Center and Mesa College’s Fashion Program celebrate a 12-year collaboration for Fashion Redux 2023.
Four garments from the 1980s were chosen from the History Center’s vast historic textile collection. Mesa College fashion students then had an up-close examination of the construction and detailing of each garment in the research archives, using them as inspiration for designing their own contemporary garment. Four student garments were chosen and exhibited alongside the four historic inspiration garments.
The theme of this year’s Fashion Redux is Glam 1980s!
This exhibition also features fashion accessories from the 1980s, as well as fashion photography and the pinnacle of the 1980s shopping experience in San Diego—Horton Plaza, which opened in 1985.
