This exhibition marks 14 years of partnership between the San Diego History Center and the Mesa College Fashion Program. Fashion Redux 2025 brings this year’s theme, Grand Occasions, to life—showcasing beautifully crafted garments and historic textiles from 1940 to 1988, worn during some of San Diego’s most iconic events.
A Legacy of Fashion & Philanthropy
Fashion Redux 2025 celebrates the artistry and elegance of historic textiles from 1940 to 1988, showcasing stunning garments worn to some of San Diego’s most momentous events.
Drawing from the History Center’s nationally recognized Historic Textile Collection, the exhibit unveils exquisite gowns that once graced legendary gatherings—including the 1968 Charity Ball, the city’s oldest and most prestigious philanthropic event, and the 100th anniversary of the Hotel del Coronado, an architectural jewel of the Victorian era.
Fashion Through the Decades
More than just a showcase, Fashion Redux 2025 is a tribute to the enduring influence of historic fashion.
By spotlighting these extraordinary designs, we hope to inspire the next generation of creators to draw from this rich and timeless archive.
Hollywood Meets San Diego
Fashion lovers will revel in designs by Hollywood’s iconic costume designer, Irene Sharaff, as well as pieces by legendary fashion visionaries Zandra Rhodes, Bob Mackie, and Norman Norell, co-founder of the celebrated Traina-Norell label.
Adding a local touch, the exhibit also highlights the work of Gladys Scott of Gladys Scott San Diego Designs, a name synonymous with elegance and craftsmanship.
